Enjoy the Full Slate of Reunion Events this Weekend!

Will you be in town this weekend for the reunion, and aren't sure how to fill the rest of your time in the 'Bury? Or were you unable to buy tickets to the reunion, but still wish that you could catch up with former friends and old flames?

Fear not, because there's a lot more going on this weekend in addition to the main event itself, Saturday night.

Friday night, beginning at 6:30 p.m., head over to Back Street Grill (401 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury) for a Welcome-Back Mixer! There's no cover, so stop by and have dinner or a drink with other class of '99 alumni.

Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., stop by Schumaker Park in Salisbury for a picnic for alumni and their families. This is a family-friendly event, so bring your spouses/significant others and kids! The basics (hot dogs, hamburgers, chips) will be provided, but anyone who wants to is welcome to bring a covered dish or dessert to share.

Saturday night, from 6 to 10 p.m., is the reunion itself, at the Flanders Room of the Wicomico Civic Center. As a reminder, attendance is limited to those who pre-ordered tickets, and the event is BYOB.

Finally, Saturday night, post-reunion, head over to Brew River (502 W. Main Street, Salisbury) for an after party. Please note, Brew River's standard cover charges might apply.

This is the final reminder that, if you are ordering your class reunion tickets by mail, they must be postmarked by Thursday, October 1. (And if you are ordering via PayPal, you have less than two weeks to do so: online ticket sales end October 10.) As a reminder, your ticket includes a buffet style dinner and non-alcoholic beverages, entertainment, and gifts, and because we need to give the venue a definitive headcount two weeks prior to the event, you will NOT be able to purchase tickets after the deadline or at the door.

Planning for our class reunion is in full swing, and things are shaping up for a fun and fantastic event. And now, we'd like your help with one small aspect of it.:-)

We are putting together a list of superlatives for members of our class, and we'd like your input.

Due to popular demand, we've decided to extend the period during which you can buy your class reunion tickets at a reduced price for another two weeks. If you purchase your tickets before Aug. 15, you can save $10 per ticket. Your ticket price includes a buffet dinner, non-alcoholic beverages, entertainment (DJ), gifts, and more.

Some early news about the reunion, and a request for help (Updated)

Good morning,

I am pleased to announce that the Class Reunion Planning Committee met for the first time last weekend, and quickly got down to business. While there are many important decisions that will be made in the next few months (including the event's venue), one of the first items on our agenda was picking a date for the reunion.

It was decided that the reunion will be held in mid-October, to coincide with WiHi's homecoming. (When we contacted WiHi to find out when exactly that was, we received two different answers, so once we get a definitive answer from them, we will pass that information along so people can plan accordingly.)

Also, be on the lookout in the next few days for a survey asking you about your opinions and preferences regarding the reunion. Your participation will help us immensely as we go forward.

And now, we turn to you with a request for help. We currently have contact information for 96 alumni. This is a FANTASTIC start, but we want to find as many members of our class as possible. Therefore, if you have any information about the following people, please let us know. Ideally, we're looking for their phone numbers and/or email addresses, but ANY information will help:

Brookes Harmon

Dear alumni,

It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you of the tragic death of our classmate Brookes Harmon.

Details are still sketchy, but initial reports state that Brookes was visiting the home of some acquaintances when three men entered the home and proceeded to bind and accost Brookes for about 20 minutes, while forcing the home's residents into a separate room. When the residents of the house emerged from the room after the men left, they found Brookes unconscious and not breathing. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to media reports, the first suspect is described as a black male, about six feet tall, between 250 and 300 lbs., who was wearing a black hoodie. The second suspect is described as a black male, also about 6 feet tall, between 200 and 250 lbs. The third suspect is also described as a black male, but no further details were available regarding the third suspect.

Per the Daily Times, "[a]nyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Maryland State Police at 410-749-3101 or Crime Solvers of Wicomico County at 410-548-1776. A cash reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Callers may remain anonymous. The investigation is continuing."

On a personal note, I'm completely shocked and saddened by this terrible news, as I'm sure we all are. I had not seen Brookes since we graduated, and I was looking forward to catching up with him at our reunion later this year. I will always remember him as an extremely friendly guy with a wicked sense of humor, who loved making people laugh.

Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Hello Class of '99!

As you are probably all aware, next year marks our tenth year since graduating high school. And as such, a reunion is in order.

But before any real planning can begin, we need something from you: your contact information, as well as the contact information for other people from our class with whom you might keep in regular contact.

We'll use this information in the near future to keep you informed about the latest reunion news, and to occasionally ask for your opinions and perhaps solicit your help. It will also help us (when the time comes) to determine what sort of venue and event is appropriate.
